Meet Taryn from Taryn’s Down to Earth Designs. Taryn lives in Salt Lake City, Utah and began using polymer clay to make jewelry in December 2020. It all started as a girl’s night with her daughter and they instantly fell in love with making jewelry together. She didn’t release her first line for sale until March 2021. She is inspired by the world around her, especially Utah which has amazing mountains and nature. Taryn has moved a lot in her adult life and each place serves as inspiration to her as well as her family, religion, and surroundings. When she isn’t making she loves cooking and baking, playing sports, writing poems, fashion, interior decorating and DIY projects. When she is in creative mode she likes to watch Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Office and The Bachelor/ Bachelorette. She also loves listening to religious or inspiring podcasts and sometimes she rocks out to music. She really loves music, but can get carried away with her singing and dancing so she isn’t as productive as she would like to be!
Taryn’s Down to Earth Designs specializes in jewelry made with polymer clay, crystals, pearls, 14k gold filled or silver. Her designs are sophisticated and are perfect to wear for any occasion. She offers earrings, chains for layering as well as the most amazing bracelet made from clay with a hand-stamped letter 14k gold filled disc charm. -What made you want to start creating?-
“I really wanted a hobby that I could do that would take my mind off of stress. Something I could do at home while the kids were sleeping. Something I could get lost in. I had postpartum after my 3rd daughter and I really needed the joy of a hobby. I have always loved fashion since I was little! So when I started watching YouTube videos about Polymer Clay jewelry I was instantly intrigued and became addicted to watching them lol.”
-Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-
“I have been married to my amazing husband for 10 years and we have 3 kids. 1 boy and 2 girls and a dog who is 4. Her name is Mable! My family is my everything. I love them so much and love spending time with them. I feel very blessed to be a stay-at-home mom so I can be with them.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“My favorite item I have created is my Equator Bracelets.”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“What makes my shop unique is that I use high quality materials. I have learned the importance of knowing what you’re working with and have researched and tested the materials I am using. I love being able to have a lot of diversity while still keeping my style simple and classic. Something that is special about my shop is I create styles that can go from day to night and look fabulous for any occasion.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“I love the earth and all of the beauty it contains. I wanted to provide simple beautiful pieces that are named after things on or around the earth, and share information about those beautiful things with each order I send.”
